The Front Porch Project, Inc. is a non-profit mission of the Episcopal Church and was founded in 2009 with the purpose of “Cultivating Community, One Conversation at a Time“. It all started because a group of friends would get together on the front porch of someone’s home and ask big questions, have great discussions, air their differences and earnestly listen to one another. The experience was empowering and entertaining.
As an organization The Front Porch recognizes music as a way to communicate across social, racial, gender and linguistic divides. All Saints’ Episcopal Church graciously offered us of their visually and acoustically stunning space to hold uniquely intimate and interactive ‘house concerts’ once a month. When John Pointer and the Live Music Capital Foundation agreed to team up with us, we knew we had something special. We knew we now had the ability to create something really exceptional, not just concert, but living wage concerts.
So now, on the third Thursday of the month, we hold a concert and a conversation with local musicians. And they really are something that shouldn’t be missed! The cost is free, but, we do ask that you make a donation to the artist.
Unplugged on the Front Porch‘s first concert of the 2013 featured John Pointer and Will Taylor and String Attached. What a Magical night it was! It was a beautiful evening and everyone was all smiles. While we felt we were a little rough around the edges, trying to figure out lighting and logistics, but the performance was spot on and the audience fell in love! Both with the performers and our new concert series. Thank you to the Live Music Capital Foundation for this extraordinary collaboration!
Do you not know who John Pointer is? He’s a multi-talented producer, arranger, composer, performer- heck, he’s an activist too! Check out this link and give him a listen and let me know what you think! What about Will Taylor? Click this link to check him out. Which artist would you like to see in concert?
